Keila Montessori MTÜ
2025
Keila Montessori MTÜ is working to expand access to high-quality Montessori education in Keila, Estonia — a town of 10,000 residents with a strong spirit of inclusion and social responsibility. In close collaboration with the Keila town government and Keila School, they will open the town’s first authentic Montessori 6–12 classroom in the Fall of 2025, creating a vital bridge for children graduating from the existing 3–6 program.
This initiative responds to an urgent local need. Currently, families must choose between costly private Montessori schools in distant cities or traditional public education that does not align with Montessori pedagogy. The program serves children from diverse backgrounds — including residents of the SOS Children’s Village, Ukrainian refugee families, and those experiencing financial hardship — ensuring that every child, regardless of circumstance, can thrive in a nurturing and developmentally aligned environment.
The classroom will begin with 16 students and follow AMI standards, including a trained teacher and assistant. The grant from MGGF will help cover both teacher training and Montessori materials acquisition — enabling them to meet core pedagogical requirements and build a strong foundation for long-term success.
By supporting this project, MGGF will help launch Estonia’s first small-town Montessori 6–12 classroom — a pioneering model for inclusive, child-centered education with the hope it will be replicated nationwide.
