Divine Mercy Montessori School
July 2025
At the heart of Buikwe District in Uganda, Divine Mercy Montessori School is igniting a quiet revolution in early childhood education. Rooted in purpose and committed to service, the school empowers children from low-income families through a holistic Montessori approach that honors both the dignity of the child and the richness of Ugandan culture. In a region where access to authentic Montessori education is scarce and imported materials are costly and culturally detached, Divine Mercy is building something extraordinary: a sustainable, locally grounded model of education that reflects the lived realities of its children.
Through this transformative initiative, the school is training a dedicated teacher, Grace, in the internationally recognized AMI 3–6 Diploma program, while also developing culturally relevant learning materials crafted by Ugandan artisans. The result will be more than classrooms with new tools—it will be a generational shift. Teachers will become knowledge-bearers and cultural interpreters. Children will experience education not as a foreign system, but as a reflection of who they are and where they come from. With help from an MGGF grant Grace can complete her training.
With deep community ties and a proven track record of inclusive, child-centered learning, Divine Mercy Montessori is not only preparing children for academic success—it is restoring pride, identity, and opportunity to an entire community. A grant from MGGF will sow the seeds of lasting transformation: elevating teacher training, strengthening local economies, and lighting the path toward a future where every child is empowered to thrive.
