The Association Maria Montessori de Côte d’Ivoire (AMMCI)
July 2025
The Association Maria Montessori de Côte d’Ivoire (AMMCI) is leading a quiet revolution in Francophone Africa—one grounded in dignity, equity, and the transformative power of Montessori education. In a region where early childhood education is often inaccessible, outdated, or out of reach, AMMCI is opening new doors by launching the first-ever AMI 0–3 Diploma course in French on African soil.
This historic initiative removes long-standing barriers—language, geography, cost, and systemic exclusion—that have kept passionate African educators, especially women, from accessing world-class Montessori training. Led by AMI-trained African professionals, the course will equip a new generation of educators to nurture the youngest children with respect, empathy, and cultural relevance.
Many of the future trainees are mothers, teachers, and community leaders from rural or low-income backgrounds. They are deeply motivated but unable to access formal training abroad due to prohibitive costs, visa restrictions, and linguistic challenges. With the support of MGGF, AMMCI can bring this training home—where it belongs—by acquiring the essential Montessori materials needed to launch the diploma course.
A grant from MGGF will provide a turning point—not just for AMMCI, but for hundreds of educators across West and Central Africa. It would empower them to create inclusive, child-centered environments in preschools, homes, and community learning spaces. It would build local leadership, reduce dependence on foreign institutions, and strengthen the fabric of early education in the region.
The impact will ripple outward: better-trained teachers, thriving children, empowered mothers, and stronger communities. In time, this course will become a hub for Montessori excellence in Francophone Africa—and a symbol of what is possible when education is locally led and globally supported.
This grant will not only support a training program—it will transform lives.
